The benefits of a multi-sports court

The concept of a multipurpose court is being adopted by the majority of Schools and Councils. By incorporating a mix of games the court can be used by a large cross section of the school & possibly the community – which of course represents value for money as well as providing a true sports facility.

The ProGrass range of multi-sport synthetic grass can convert a poorly utilised degraded asphalt court into a bright and inviting multi-sports facility that children will love to play on, in wet or dry conditions.   Our synthetic grass sports surfaces are designed to be installed over concrete, asphalt or compacted road base.  The latter is a boon for schools in Western areas where the cost of concrete is prohibitive.

Some thought, however, should be given as to what the predominant sport is to be, as a combination of say, tennis, basketball, volleyball will usually involve some compromise on line dimensions and placement of equipment.

Multi-sport Accessories.  Prograss can supply a full range of accessories.  Outdoor  equipment is engineered for strength and reliability and designed  for even the most extreme conditions.

With over 30 years experience in the synthetic grass industry, Prograss has an Australian wide reputation for excellence. We also offer our professional services to design the most cost-effective and efficient conversion for your existing court or new facility.

Recommended Products:

Most multi-sport courts want to provide for at least three (3) sports in co-ordinating colours, which need to be cut in and therefore we recommend a product that has a double backing for greater stability and for increased ‘tuft’ lock.  There are a variety of products available and final selection will depend on the sports to be incorporated and usage the court is going to experience.

A  multi-sport court is going to have a lot of use and care should be taken to select a product that is going to last, rather than the cheapest available.

For a combination of basketball/tennis/netball/volleyball we would generally recommend the following:

Challenge Pro

19mm Medium to high density use.  More fibre per square metre and double backed to provide stability and tuft lock. Co-ordinating  line marking available.

Satellite 19mm similar construction to the Challenge Pro, but without the double backing. Co-ordinating line marking available.
