The yarn in Prograss' exclusive synthetic grass surfaces is manufactured by Tapex Sports Yarns, an Australian company with nearly 50 years experience in extrusion and the largest manufacturer of sports yarns in the southern hemisphere. Tapex sports yarns are made from polypropylene and / or polyethylene, to which ultraviolet stabilisers and colour pigment is added, ensuring the yarn will never fade or shrink. Based on 6000 hours of QUV exposure, Tapex Ultimate yarn is proven to resist fading better than its competitors.
Tapex Ultimate yarn outperforms its major competitors in the key measures of toughness, requiring over 25% more energy to break the yarn than its nearest competitor. Tapex yarn also resists degradation better than its competitors, retaining 92% of its tensile strength after 36 months of outdoor exposure, compared to competitors whose strength degraded by as much as 38%.
